I was a teacher at Corinth, and Melissa was a wonderful, supportive parent at our school. Sometime early every July, I would start to panic. School was just weeks away, and with it came the traumatic bulletin board crisis. Every teacher was expected to have a colorful display outside our door to welcome students back to a new school year. I wasn’t panicked about the boards within my classroom; I’d just rearrange some furniture and move bookcases to cover them. The outside display was another matter- enter, my creative friend and neighbor. Simply put, if I dream in one dimensional black and white, Melissa would dream in 3-D technicolor! That is what she would create for me. The result would be a colorful, whimsical, fun display that would bring to life the current popular kid’s book or movie. No one was ever fooled into thinking the board was my creation! Melissa brought joy and mirth into the lives of all who knew her. She is loved and she is missed.
