Missy and Me - February 5

Author: Cathy Handy

Oh Melissa…Missy,

How much I miss our shenanigans and laughing! Our friendship started on Labor Day at Milburn Country Club when our kids were young…Jeff and you rolled out a highchair full of beer and joined us at what was commonly known as the “Corinth Mafia” circle. We became fast friends and quickly learned that you were a new Corinth family as well. Through our friendship, Brooks, Calvin, Addie, and Emma became great friends, and a lot of TGIF’s turned into slumber parties for them! How many times did we see that dinosaur costume!?!

Our story has so many fun, crazy, and wonderful memories to capture all of them would take so much time (plus a lot of inside jokes that might bore others) so I am going to highlight our fun and funny moments in a David Letterman Top 10 style:

  • 10. Lots of KU and MU football game bets that ended up with Jeff and you buying dinner, and Jim and I “adding a tail” to our order!

  • 9. Corinth PTA volunteers extraordinaire… What was in our cups at Dragonfest?!?

  • 8. MLK day and lots of red wine - “Have you guys been eating purple popsicles?”

  • 7. Getting Coach Meredith dressed after a swim meet in Coach Jack’s clothes.

  • 6. Dinner parties - Did Jim cook the meat?

  • 5. The girls getting corn rows in Marco - That was a fun treat! Emma didn’t cry once!

  • 4. Table Rock Lake at your parent’s house, but seriously when are we turning the car around and going back home? A very impromptu trip to the lake turned into a weekend of fun! VBJ all the way!

  • 3. Babysitting all of the kids in Colorado and taking them to a bike show where Jack Haverty had one of the bike trick guys jump over him. We got lucky that day!

  • 2. Your birthday party with Chris(ta) and seeing dead people at Franklin Park - Ok, so maybe it was a pair of doll legs in the sewer, but still…the Barbie Cherry cake turned out amazing! (see picture!)

  • 1. The dance table - There wasn’t a night that we didn’t clear the table and dance on top of it! Still do and I always think of you!

Miss you every day and think of you always with a big smile! Know you are up there smiling, laughing, and always dancing! Cheers!

Much love,

Candy
